OAKLAND, CA – Impact Justice is thrilled to announce a transformative gift from MacKenzie Scott. It is the largest unrestricted donation in the organization’s history and will have a profound effect on Impact Justice’s efforts to advance a more humane, restorative, and responsive system of justice.

“We’re honored to receive this gift and grateful for this level of support from MacKenzie Scott. We are moved by her belief in our mission and for our work with the communities we serve,” said Alex Busansky, President and Founder of Impact Justice. “This gift will allow us to accelerate the movement for justice reform and ensure we have the resources to continue to advance our ideas.”

As a national innovation and research center, Impact Justice’s mission is to end mass incarceration using imaginative alternatives that promote healing over punishment. This milestone gift will allow Impact Justice to build on our work in three key areas: preventing youth and adults from entering the criminal legal system; improving conditions of confinement, and supporting successful reentry for people rejoining their communities after incarceration.
