OAKLAND, CA – Starting January 1, 2022, daily stipends for Homecoming Project hosts will increase to $30, an increase of $5 from the $25 daily rate hosts have received up to this date.  This represents a 20% increase, meaning hosts will receive a new rate of approximately $900 per month.

This change will be automatically applied for all existing hosts, as well as all new hosts with participants moving into their homes on January 1st, 2022 or after.

In addition to a daily host stipend, all new Homecoming hosts with a participant moving in on or after January 1, 2021 will receive an increased one-time starting stipend of $400.  The previous stipend was $250.

The program change comes after receiving feedback about how we could better support existing hosts and attract new hosts.  Hosts are the backbone of Homecoming: collectively, they have housed more than 60 formerly incarcerated people in the Bay Area since 2018.  The Homecoming Project would not exist without their dedication.  We’re thrilled to support hosts by offering higher stipends and additional incentives.

Questions about the stipend and deposit increase should be directed to Cruz Jauregui at cjauregui@impactjustice.org.
