Tanesha Hicks is a lifelong resident of Washington, DC. She has been serving the D.C. community for eight years, working in the social services field. She is passionate about helping others in need, especially in the D.C. community. Her passion for helping people partly comes from her background as a family engagement specialist, where she contributed to safe and positive family environments by actively monitoring families and ensuring their safety. Tanesha has worked with system-impacted families and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence. She assisted families in crisis, providing proactive and reactive strategies and engaging in therapeutic opportunities to provide corrective experiences.
In her free time, Tanesha enjoys heading to the local neighborhood farmer’s market for the season’s fresh produce, and she looks forward to all the summer season has to offer with a focus on healthy eating. Her favorite month, June, is quickly approaching, and she looks forward to the summer and all of her favorite summertime foods, spending quality time with family, and attending family festivals and music festivals. This summer, she plans to spend quality time at the pool and create DIY arts and crafts projects with her young daughter, who is quickly approaching three.
Tanesha holds a B.S. in Clinical Psychology from Lincoln University in Oxford, Pennsylvania. She also has an M.S. in Health Services Administration from Strayer University in D.C. with a concentration in clinical care management. She is experienced in creating and establishing systems, leading and developing training for various audiences, building capacity around strength-based approaches, developing best practices and engagement, and providing technical assistance. Tanesha is super excited to start with Impact Justice and looks forward to helping our organization grow while serving as a resource for a purpose in the world.
