Maddie Cunningham is the Associate Director of Development at Impact Justice, where she leads efforts to resource the organization’s mission and programs. She brings over eight years of fundraising experience and a deep interest in social justice movement building to the team.
Before joining Impact Justice, Maddie was the director of development and communications at Street Sense Media, an organization that works to empower people experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C. with a street newspaper program, artistic workshops, and case management support.
Prior to her work at Street Sense Media, Maddie was the assistant director for partnerships at the Washington Office on Latin America, where she managed a $3 million grants portfolio supporting the organization’s human rights advocacy and research. She also worked with a program team leading a groundbreaking project on women, drug policy, and incarceration, which fueled her growing interest in criminal legal system reforms that do away with punitive and ineffective approaches to harm.
Maddie was born and raised in central Minnesota, but now considers Washington, D.C. home. She comes from a family of artists, including a painter, composer, and writer. Maddie graduated from Centre College with a B.A. in anthropology and sociology in 2015. She minored in Spanish and Latin American studies and spent a semester living and learning in Mérida, Mexico.
