Jonathan Chiu joined Impact Justice as an Executive Assistant in 2022, supporting the Vice President of Innovations and the President. Jonathan was born in Hong Kong, China. His family emigrated to the United States in 1990. Jonathan was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison and was commuted by Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. He was part of the San Quentin News Team from 2015 to 2020 as a layout designer and the crossword creator. Released back into society after 17 years, he now resides in Oakland. He is an avid runner and has completed five San Quentin 1000 Mile Club marathons and is featured in the upcoming documentary called β26.2 to Life.β He shared his experience with the Marshall Project called βThe Time in I Ran a Marathon in Prison.β Jonathan is a stand-up comic in his off time.
