Maya Merriweather is a Senior Program Manager for the Menopause Project at Impact Justice, where she leads strategy, evaluation, and programming to advance menopause care and resources for people who are currently incarcerated.
She brings over eight years of experience in nonprofit program leadership at the intersection of public health and incarceration. Previously, Maya was the Healing to Advocacy Program Manager at Essie Justice Group where she designed and scaled programs supporting women with incarcerated loved ones to advocate for themselves, their loved ones, and community. She also served as Senior Project Manager at the Black AIDS Institute, leading national training and capacity-building initiatives, community activations, and developing digital media campaigns to expand HIV education, prevention, and treatment.
Maya holds a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Health Policy from Depaul University, where she also earned her bachelor’s degree, and completed post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at the University of Southern California.
