Joe comes to Impact Justice with nearly a decade of experience conducting research and program evaluations in the areas of workforce development, violence prevention, prison re-entry, and policing. His work in these areas has primarily focused on understanding the mechanisms through which social programs succeed or fail to achieve their desired outcomes. Most recently, Joe has also worked with UC Berkeley and the Center for Policing Equity to design research procedures for understanding relationships among police department policies, training procedures, and racial disparities in enforcement. Through all of his work, Joe’s goal has been to work toward creating a more robust social welfare system and a more equitable and humane criminal justice system. Joe holds an MPP from UC Berkeley and a B.A. from Oberlin College.
